PARKS AND MUSEUMS NOT TO BE MISSED IN THE BLACK PERIGORD

If you wish to make tourism in Dordogne, parks and museums are not missing…

The Parc du Bournat is a must-see in the region. This park plunges you into a village of 1900, you will discover the craftsmen of the time such as the miller, the cutler, or the wood carver. You will enjoy the bread, the jam or the beer made on the spot. The attractions and rides from the beginning of the last century as well as the mini-farm will delight young and old…

Two steps from Le Bournat, the aquarium of the Périgord Noir, the largest private freshwater aquarium in France, awaits you. Beyond the myriad of fish, you will observe alligators, alligator turtles, lizards and anacondas.

For lovers of history and prehistory, among the activities of the Dordogne, many museums await you.

Of course the National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies de Tayac, with its numerous prehistoric remains, its videos on flint knapping or its reproductions of prehistoric animals.

Some private museums such as the castle of Sauveboeuf which shelters one of the biggest private collection of Europe of prehistoric tools, ivory ornaments retracing the life of our ancestors from homo Erectus to Cro-Magnon, passing by Neanderthal.

Let us also note the museum of the war in the Middle Ages of the castle of Castelnaud la Chapelle and its 250 pieces of armors and weapons as well as the many trebuchets and catapults installed outside and on the ramparts.

Finally, more unusual visits await you at the insectorama of Grolejac or at the museum of the automaton of Souillac! And don’t forget the Jacquou Parc amusement park in Le Bugue for a lot of thrills!
